Rubella is a contagious, acute disease that is also known as the German measles.

Rubella is caused by an infection with the Rubella virus.

The symptoms that Rubella can cause are headaches, sore throat, mild itching, pinkeye, painful joints, swollen lymph glands, arthritis, nausea, mild rash, and fever that lasts approximately 2-3 days. If pregnant woman are infected by Rubella, then it can cause a major chance on death. Such as deafness, blindness, cataracts, heart defects, mental retardation, and liver or spleen damage. Sometimes it can cause a 20% chance on affecting the baby with Rubella.

Rubella is transmitted in many different type of ways, the most common way is by Indirect Contact such as sneezing or coughing.

The only way to prevent or fight from Rubella is the Rubella vaccine, which is contained in MMR vaccine.

There is no antiviral therapy for Rubella, only basic treatment consists of supportive care. However do not fear because no one ever gets the Rubella virus anymore.
