MULTIPLICATION FOR CLASS III

How many sets of marbles are there ? 4 How many marbles are there in each set ? 2 How many marbles are there in all ? =8

Number line =12

=12 Now, This can be written as 2X6 =1 2 and read as two multiplied by six is equal to twelve.

In 2x6=12, the sign X indicates

Now let us learn more examples = 6 2 X 3 = 6

X 4 =

From this we can learn that, MULTIPLICATION IS REPEATED ADDITION

In the example 3x4=12, is a multiplication fact.. 3 x 4 = 12 Here 12 is called the product of 3 and 4.

Example 1 4 x 3 = x 4 = 1 2 Example 2

Example _3Example _4 4 x 1 = 4 3x 1 = 3

Write the product, using multiplication tables 1.6x4= x8= x3= x7= x8=----

Match the correct number 2x53 x x9 10x

There are 10 grapes in a bunch. How many grapes are there in 4 such bunches ? Number of grapes in 5 bunches = 10 x 5 = 5050 Ans: There are 50 grapes in 5 bunches.

There are 10apples in a basket. How many apples are there in 3 baskets ? Number of apples in 1 basket = 10 Number of apples in 2 baskets = 10x 2 20 Ans: There are 20apples in 2 baskets.

SOLVE How many legs in 4 elephants? Dogs?

THANK YOU
