Spring Trip to Buenos Aires, Argentina Wednesday, March 24: Depart from Dulles Airport for Buenos Aires, Argentina (flight details to follow) Thursday, March 25: Arrival Day Arrive at Buenos Aires the next day and spend remainder of the day resting, getting settled and acquainted with your host family Friday, March 26: Introduction & Welcome Event Your morning will begin with an assembly at Academia Buenos Aires, where you will get an introduction to events for your stay in Argentina. You will also be tested on your Spanish abilities for placement in the appropriate levels classes next week. In the evening, a Welcome Asado is planned, where you will enjoy a grilled dinner, Argentinian style. Saturday, March 27: Guided Tour of Your Host City Meet at mid-day for a guided tour of Buenos Aires. You will visit monuments, avenues, barrios and centers of commerce. Be sure to bring your camera and notebook to record your experiences today for future reflection. Sunday, March 28: Visit to Mataderos Today you will travel to the traditional barrio of Mataderos. Located in the west end of the city, its name stems from the livestock market and slaughterhouses (the literal meaning of matadero). Here you will see the traditional Fair, showcasing gaucho traditions, foods and crafts. You will also enjoy a traditional meal. Monday, March 29: Classes/Tour of Buenos Aires Neighborhoods Enjoy some free time in the morning before reporting to class at 2 pm. You will receive 3 hours of quality Spanish instruction, and have the opportunity to meet students from other areas of the world. Classes will be followed by a visit to La Boca, the gateway for many immigrants arriving to Buenos Aires in the 19 th Century. Here you’ll discover the colorful communal houses, art shops, museums and the soccer stadium.

Spring Trip to Buenos Aires, Argentina Tuesday, March 30: Classes/Tango Lessons Enjoy some free time in the morning before reporting to class at 2 pm. You will receive 3 hours of quality Spanish instruction, followed by an afternoon of tango lessons and milonga, the accompanying music. Wednesday, March 31: Classes/Social Discussion Enjoy some free time in the morning before reporting to class at 2 pm. You will receive 3 hours of quality Spanish instruction. This afternoon, watch a film about social conditions in Argentina, and have a discussion around topics such as immigration, politics, welfare, and community. Thursday, April 1: Classes/Visit to the Docklands In the morning, visit the Puerto Madero district, and the Reserva Ecologica to observe its diverse wildlife and natural habitat. Report to class at 2 pm. You will receive 3 hours of quality Spanish instruction. Afternoon off. Friday, April 2: Classes/Free Afternoon Enjoy some free time in the morning before reporting to your final day of class. You will be awarded a certificate for your completion of your Spanish language training. In the afternoon, meet up with your fellow travellers and students to perhaps enjoy a stroll through the upscale Recoleta area to spend your extra pesos, or a stop at Hard Rock Café for souvenirs, or perhaps engage in a sports activity. Saturday, April 3: Free Day with Host Families Spend your final day in your host city with your host families. Learn how they plan to spend Easter Sunday and perhaps share in some of the traditions and preparations that will take place this week, in honor of this Christian holiday Sunday, April 4: Depart Buenos Aires for Dulles Airport Bid farewell to your hosts, teachers and Argentina. Return to the US with wonderful memories of your stay, and the new friendships you have made. Arrive back home in time for Easter dinner. (Flight details to follow)
