Pablo Picasso Pablo Picasso (1881 – 1973) was one of the most influential artist of the twentieth century. Picasso used a variety of styles during his career but was perhaps best known for his surrealist paintings. Picasso used simple geometrical shapes and sharp, contrasting colors to created exaggerated representations of people and other objects.

The Dove of Peace Picasso began drawing his dove symbols in 1950 in response to the United States' use of atomic bombs in World War II. What might the dove symbolize? The dove and the glowing sun represent the simplicity and beauty of the natural world, as opposed to the complications of war.
