Organizational Structures Possibility #1: My position Reason 1/evidence Reason 2/evidence Reason 3/evidence Other positions Opposing argument Reasons/evidence Rebuttal This structure first gives readers a chance to hear your position and understand it. Then, it helps to move readers to understand the arguments against you and their points. By ending with a rebuttal, this structure gives readers the chance to hear your argument against the counterarguments as the last thing they hear.

Organizational Structure The reader first hears the arguments against your position and your rebuttal to those arguments. This structure is similar to the first one in that it ends with your arguments - perhaps making your arguments stick more in the readers’ minds. Possibility #2: Counterarguments/Reasons/E vidence/Rebuttal My position Reason 1/evidence Reason 2/evidence Reason 3/evidence
