Color Mars has a reddish brown color because it’s surface is covered in iron dust which has rusted It is also covered in dust. Dust is a very fine- grained material, settled out in the atmosphere and forms a thick layer even on the highest volcanoes.

Missions to Mars Phoenix Lander - landed on the north polar region of mars. Its mission was to dig up and analyze icy soil. It carries a complex suite of instruments that are improved variations of those that flew on the lost Mars Polar Lander.
