He is met by an old prophet from Bethel The prophet is on his way back to Judah “I also am a prophet like you, and an angel spoke to me by the word of the LORD, saying, ‘Bring him back with you to your house, that he may eat bread and drink water.’” But he lied to him. (1 Kings 13:18).

The Man of GodThe People of Israel He was given specific instructions as to how he was to travel through Israel. They were given specific instructions as to how they were to worship God. He followed the old prophet’s alternate instructions. They followed Jeroboam's alternate method of worship. He was killed by a lion. They would ultimately be taken into captivity.

1 st Kings 13:33-34 After this event Jeroboam did not return from his evil way, but again he made priests of the high places from among all the people; any who would, he ordained, to be priests of the high places. 34 This event became sin to the house of Jeroboam, even to blot it out and destroy it from off the face of the earth.

2 nd Kings 9:14-15 So Jehu the son of Jehoshaphat the son of Nimshi conspired against Joram. Now Joram with all Israel was defending Ramoth- gilead against Hazael king of Aram, 15 but King Joram had returned to Jezreel to be healed of the wounds which the Arameans had inflicted on him when he fought with Hazael king of Aram. So Jehu said, "If this is your mind, then let no one escape or leave the city to go tell it in Jezreel."

2 nd Kings 9:24 And Jehu drew his bow with his full strength and shot Joram between his arms; and the arrow went through his heart and he sank in his chariot.

2 nd Kings 9:27 When Ahaziah the king of Judah saw this, he fled by the way of the garden house. And Jehu pursued him and said, "Shoot him too, in the chariot." So they shot him at the ascent of Gur, which is at Ibleam. But he fled to Megiddo and died there.

Jehu gathers all the priests and worshipers of Baal into a temple He then orders everyone in the temple to be killed The house of Baal is turned into a latrine (2 Kings10:27)

2 nd Kings 10:28-29 Thus Jehu eradicated Baal out of Israel. 29 However, as for the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, which he made Israel sin, from these Jehu did not depart, even the golden calves that were at Bethel and that were at Dan.
