MY LIFE By: Kristen Hoepfner

Background I was born September 25, 1987 I grew up in Weston, FL (a suburb of Ft. Lauderdale) but my family now lives in Columbus, OH. In five years hopefully I will be teaching overseas for a few years then coming back to teach high school Special Ed in inner city schools.

A Few Things about me…

In My Spare Time… I work at the Gainesville Ale House as a waitress at least 30 hours a week with some of my best friends. I like to go out to dinner, go shopping, and hang out with my friends.

My Sorority I am in a Christian Sorority called Sigma Phi Lambda. These girls are amazing and definitely keep me going. My beliefs are very important to me and it is good to have friends that keep me on the right track.

My Family Like I said before, my family now lives in Columbus, OH. My dad works for the Columbus Blue Jackets, which is a NHL hockey team. It is his dream job so my family was glad to support him and move up north, even though it means living in Buckeye Country. My sister is three years younger than me and is a senior in high school. My mom is my best friend and I miss her so much!

My Puppy In February I got a dog named Bentley. He is a chiuaua- yorkie mix. He is a little monster and gets into everything. Even though he is wild, I love him to death.

Why do I want to teach? I want to teach for many reasons. First of all I am a people person so a job that allows me to interact with people is a perfect fit. The reason I want to teach overseas and in inner city schools is because I want to help change people’s lives. Especially people who otherwise may not have gotten an education.

Surprise! Many people don’t know this but the summer before my freshman year in high school I had surgery on my back. I had severe scoliosis so I had to have two metal rods, 4 two inch screws, and 4 hooks put in my back. Luckily I don’t set the metal detectors off at the airport!

My Goals for this year Pass the GRE Save up enough money so I can travel to Europe. Go backpacking through Europe with my best friend. GRADUATE!! Visit my family more
