Under his leadership the company financial status was improved and the Canadian portion of the business was sold. The company is a division of Freightliner LLC and sister to Sterling Trucks within Daimler AG. Peabody still owns operations in Australia, which are based in Wacol Queensland. Western Star produces a range of heavy duty trucks suited to a variety of purposes including semi-trailer, multiple trailer, heavy haulage and tipper- and-dog applications. KENWORTH Kenworth began its history in Portland, Oregon. In 1912, the company was founded by brothers George T. and Louis Gerlinger, Jr. as a car and truck dealership known as Gerlinger Motor Car Works. In 1914, they decided to build their own truck with a more powerful inline six-cylinder engine. This was the first ever put into a commercial truck.
