FIELD TRIPS If you plan to chaperone field trips, please make sure you have done all necessary paperwork (online forms) Two field trips this year Trout Lake Nature Center - November Orlando Repertory Theater – May (Chaperone seating is limited)

BRING BACK BOOKS Read/interact with books 20 minutes a night Bring Back Books are due on Wednesdays so that I can check them The books and journals do NOT have to be done by Wednesday….just worked on In the journal, they must have the title (capitalized and underlined) and the date. All answers need to be in complete sentences If there are questions, answer the questions. If there are not any questions, then, your child must pick three of the responses from the front of the journal to do.

OH MY! I AM WORRIED ABOUT MY CHILD’S GRADES! First, DON’T PANIC!!! This is a transition year, and your child may need time to adjust to the independence and rigor of 2 nd Grade This process may take a few weeks If low grades continue or if I see a problem, we will work together to help your child I will be happy to meet with you to discuss your child’s progress If you would like a conference, please sign up tonight or write a note in your child’s agenda. I am available before school every day and after school with notice

WHAT CAN I DO TO HELP? Review everything that goes home with your child (work, tests, etc.…) Do Bring Back Books (this assignment works on complete sentences and comprehension, responding to reading) Check your child’s binder every night Study addition/subtraction facts and the phonics page in your child’s binder Be sure that your child does his/her homework Help your child study for tests Read the newsletter and check my website weekly to find out the words and skills that we will be covering during the week Sign up for Skyward family to see grades as soon as they post

WEBSITE Updated weekly Contains important forms, newsletters, project information, etc.… Lake.k12.fl.us > Schools> Sorrento Elementary > Teachers > 2 nd Grade > Mrs. Dunson Or, click the QR Code image on the front of your child’s binder cover sheet or the back of my business card

WAYS TO COMMUNICATE Write notes in the binder - use your child’s number rather than name (He/She knows the number) Call (may not be able to take or return your call immediately, but will make sure that I get back with you as soon as I can) Conferences  PLEASE, do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns!

THOUGHTS…… We are a team…..the parents, teachers and students. We are all in this together. By working with each other and working hard, we will achieve success!
