Advanced iWAM Interpretation: “Protection” Scales iWAM Professional Development

Advanced Interpretation l The key to the power of the iWAM is in the information it provides. l We constantly probe our experience with individuals, teams, and organizations to learn more about what the iWAM provides. l Through discovery, testing, and sharing we broaden not only our understanding, but also the extent to which the iWAM makes a difference in people’s lives and organizations’ performance. 2 iWAM Professional Development

“Protection” Scales l In this framework, each scale contributes to an individual’s motivation to guard against errors or mistakes. l The scales—individually and collectively— provide deeper insights into the motivation behind an individual’s decisions, actions, and emotional state. l We are not claiming that: (a) high scores are good or (b) that everyone should have high scores. 3 iWAM Professional Development Guiding Question: What motivational and attitudinal patterns provide the basis for an individual to want to avoid mistakes, errors, or act in unproductive ways?

“Protection” What motivational and attitudinal patterns provide an indication that this individual has the motivation to avoid making mistakes? l High on Problem Solving (avoiding errors portion) l Low on Automatic (does not conclude quickly) l High on Consistency (difficult to convince or stay convinced) l High on Period of Time (wants time to consider) 4 iWAM Interpretation Course - Module 3

“Protection” High on Problem Solving (avoiding errors) Low on Automatic (does not conclude quickly) High on Consistency (difficult to convince) High on Period of Time (wants time to think about it) 5 iWAM Interpretation Course - Module Examples of “Protection” Ranges on Some iWAM Scales
