Choose a seat, and 1) place chewing gum in the trash, 2) remove ball caps 3) date your journal and respond to this prompt: If I knew then what I know now, what significant changes would I have made in my approach to school work and/or friendships in my freshman year? HONORS ENGLISH 10 MRS. FERNANDEZ JULY 21, 2015

July 21 st, 2015 Agenda We will review the License Plate Activity -Narrative -License Plate Homework: Signed forms (Two – pastel green and BRIGHT orange) due WEDNESDAY, July 22 nd.

The License Plate Activity  THE MINI-PAPER ---  Tell us about your dream car. You will write three paragraphs about your dream car and include the following:  Paragraph 1: Your Dream Car  * Identify your dream car. Describe its appearance and personality. Then explain how this choice is a reflection of you or your values. For example, if a person were to choose a Smart Car perhaps he/she is interested in the environment, or is small in stature (and proud of it!), or thinks of themselves as an intellectual.  Paragraph 2: Explanation of Your Interests  * Describe your interests and where you’d like to travel in your dream car and/or how your life would improve if you had it. Who would travel with you? What types of activities would you attend in your car?  Paragraph 3: One (or Two) Special Items  * In your paragraph identify one item you WANT/ NEED to have in your car in order to make this a successful year. Describe the item—it may be tangible or intangible. Then discuss how it will help you to be successful in school this year.

The License Plate Activity  The mini-paper and the license plate will be completed in class on Tuesday, July 21. Please write your mini-paper before designing the license plate. Your mini-paper will be evaluated on ideas/content, details/imagery, format, and conventions.

The License Plate Activity  * Once you’ve written your mini-paper, design a license plate to go on the back of your dream car.  * Stipulations:  The words must be short, direct, and a reflection of Y-O-U  You may use a quote, find an interest, state a hobby, make a goal, or just be goofy.  IT MUST BE SCHOOL APPROPRIATE—consult handbook * teacher’s note  It must be printed, and readable (we want people to be able to read it from afar)  It must have decoration and color  Staple it to the “Honors 10 Road to Success”
