Spain Spanish conquistadors had three main motivations: God = the spread of Christianity Gold = looking for riches Glory = expansion of empire Explored and settled parts of Florida, the Southwest Region, Mexico and islands in the Caribbean

France Two main motivations: Search for Northwest Passage In search for trading partners Primarily fur Explored and settled parts of central North America, Canada, and islands in Caribbean
