Please write the requirements (on the following 2 slides) on this first page and submit it as the cover page for your constructed responses.

If you were absent-write the date assigned noting you were absent and write the date you made it up. 2. You are to write in COMPLETE SENTENCES. Think of constructed responses as mini-essays.

Constructed Response #1: LANGUAGE Some people argue that rules for language are outdated and they should not be formally taught as part of high school curriculum. Others argue that in order to help improve clear communication and accuracy, grammar rules are necessary and without them, people would lose effective communication skills, especially in written forms. English 11B

Constructed Response #6: Persuasive Words and Logic In response to this prompt you are to use a logical, persuasive tone making sure to select words for power and a sense of urgency without exaggeration or weak logic. Underline the words you feel are the most persuasive. Make sure your explanations are complete enough to be clear and avoid weakness. Education is the single most crucial tool in a society’s success. Given the harsh economic times, schools are looking for ways to cut costs while not sacrificing education. Some people believe the best way to achieve both goals is to cut the school week down to 4 days. Others argue that the school day should be made shorter but still attend for 5 days a week; still others believe that the traditional schedule should be followed, and savings should be made in ways that do not alter the current schedule. Choose and argue one of the positions. English 11B
