Wetland Management Framework Module 3
Using the bookmarks Some of the documents that are hyperlinked are in PDF and others in MS Word. The PDF programme that I have used is PDF-XChange and a free PDF-XChange reader is available for download at The first thing to understand is that hyperlinks and bookmarks work differently in PDF and Word. PDF: The hyperlink takes you to the file. It is then necessary to open the bookmarks panel and select the required bookmark. This will take you to the page on which the required information is. It will not necessarily take you directly to the required place on the page. Word: The hyperlink will usually take you to the file, but may sometimes take you directly to the required paragraph. If it takes you to the file, then, on the > tab, in the > section click on > and this will bring a pop-up menu with the bookmarks in that file. Highlight the required bookmark and click on > and this will take you to the required heading of paragraph. The convention used: Hyperlinks in the Power Point files are given as a > between [square brackets]. In the projection mode (icon,,) left click on the hyperlinked term to change the cursor from the arrow to the hand. At this stage the hyperlinked address will appear next to the cursor. Left clicking on the hyperlinked term [that is within the square brackets] will take you to the document. From this point open the bookmarks as described above and left click on the required bookmark.
Eskom Project Life-Cycle Model The Eskom PLCM lays down an orderly number of Stages or phases for the life of any Eskom project. [PLCM]PLCM Within each Stage of the Wetland Management Framework there are a varying number of Action Steps required by the PLCM [PLCM_WMF]PLCM_WMF
Eskom Project Life-Cycle Model Stages 1.Pre-Feasibility Stage 2.Feasibility 3.Business Plan 4.Planning & Design 5.Contracting & Procurement 6.Construction 7.Commissioning & Hand-over 8.Operation* 9.Close-out 10.Evaluate
Action Steps within the PLCM Action Steps during the life-cycle of any Eskom project are listed in the second column of Table 2 of the WMF Manual. There are in total 78 listed Action Steps taken during the life-cycle of any project. The number of Action Steps taken during each Stage of the project is variable. [Action]Action
Focus & Impact Categories These Categories were devised for the WMF based on current Eskom initiatives, polices, strategies and value systems. There are 4 categories: Catchment perspectives Corporate Social Responsibility Harnessing environmental goods and services Legal Compliance [Action]Action
Focus & Impact Categories Within the WMF these Categories are represented by symbols. The Categories are found in the third column of Table 2 of the WMF Manual. The Categories refer to the Action Steps in column 2 of Table 2 and what specific area/s will require consideration during these actions
Core Questions For each of the Action Steps within project life- cycle Stages the WMF poses a number of Core Questions with regard to any wetlands affected by the project (column 4 of Table 2) [Questions]Questions
Organisational Systems & Alignment Organisations are characterised by a number of organisational systems i.e. Financial systems, Data and Information systems and Human Resources systems. There are also external linkages outside the organisation i.e. to Government Departments and Surrounding Communities. WMF is aligned with these organisational systems [Organisational]Organisational
