Part 4: ‘The Source of Your Security’ Revelation 6:1 – 8:1 Last time...

Steve Petch Sunday 15 th November 2009 Part 5: ‘We are His Witnesses’ Revelation 8:1 –11:18

Why does the church often look so weak?

When will these events happen? These seven trumpets cover the whole of ‘AD history’

How does this relate to the rest of Revelation? Revelation repeatedly describes the same events / time periods!

How should we interpret these seven seals, trumpets and bowls? We must look for the spiritual lessons, not for specific historical events

The Seven Seals 1.Wars / conquerors 2.International strife 3.Famine 4.Pestilence / death 5.Christians persecuted 6.The end; everything is shaken; Jesus returns ******An interlude****** 7. Final judgement The Seven Trumpets 1.Disasters – 1/3 of land 2.Disasters – 1/3 of sea 3.Disasters – 1/3 of rivers 4.Disasters – 1/3 of heavens 5.Unbelievers tormented 6.Demonically inspired armies; mass slaughter *******An Interlude******* 7. God’s kingdom comes

We are his witnesses 1.The certainty of the gospel message 2.The nature of the gospel message 3.Opposition to the gospel message

We are his witnesses Some application: 1.We ARE his witnesses 2.We need his power 3.We will face opposition 4.We must take the gospel into all the world

Why does the church often look so weak? We are his witnesses We must be like Jesus, who conquered through humility and obedience... even obedience to death on a cross

Steve Petch Sunday 15 th November 2009 Part 5: ‘We are His Witnesses’ Revelation 8:1 –11:18
