National Health Service Corps (NHSC)  Our office coordinates with NHSC to assure sites meet program participation requirements.  Eligible sites must have a federal designation; Provides services regardless of ability to pay; Offer discounted fee for those who qualify; Accept Medicare, Medicaid and CHIP patients.  Our office prepares and submits designation requests to the Office of Shortage Designation. Auto HPSA designations are possible for Medicare Certified Rural Health Clinics.

 Application for sites and individuals to participate in NHSC programs are available online at:  Currently requires a Federal Health Professional Area (HPSA) Score of 14 or higher (very few areas qualify in Nebraska except IHS and CHC sites).  HPSA Scores are determined by: (1) Population to Provider Ratio; (2) Percent of Population Below Poverty; (3) Travel Distance; (4) Other Health Indicators – IMR/LBW, Fluoridation, Substance Abuse Ratio.
