Chosen Charities Year 5 – Reuben’s Retreat Reuben’s Retreat is a charity that was born in memory of Reuben Michael Graham who tragically passed away aged 23 months. Our goal is to provide a retreat in the North West of England countryside that will relieve the distress of families and their close friends who have suffered the bereavement of a child or have a child suffering from a life limiting or life threatening illness.

Chosen Charities Year 6 – Help for Heroes Their mission is to deliver an enduring national network of support for our wounded service men/women and their families. They aim to inspire and enable those who have made sacrifices on our behalf to achieve their full potential

Upper Junior Reading Reading Supporting your child’s reading is one of the most valuable things a parent can do to help in their child’s education. Children will be sent home with reading books which they should be able to read to an adult with a little support. Please encourage your child to read to you for minutes each night in a quiet place away from any distractions. It is also important to ask your child questions, as this will help them understand the characters and improve their creative writing skills. Try asking:  What do you think will happen next?  Who is your favourite character and why?  How do you think that character feels now?  What would you do if you were there?

Upper Junior Homework Literacy - Will be handed out on a Friday and should be returned by Monday Reading – Daily Maths – Will be handed out on a Friday and should be returned on a Monday Times tables – Please help your child learn their tables on a regular basis. The children will be tested on a weekly basis. Blogging – Children will be given blogging topics by their class teacher and will often be required to respond to teachers blogs Children are encouraged to create their own blogs and start class discussions. Teachers will be setting clear rules and guidelines with the pupils to ensure their blogs are ‘learning’ focused. Parents should ensure that their children are completing all their homework
