Introduction GOALS: Building a spiritual fire Scriptural ways to enhance zeal Mature understanding of zeal Satisfaction of imitating the zeal of Christ

Titus 2:11-14 God’s vision is a special people, pure and zealous for good works. Introduction

Zeal Defined Secular: “eagerness and ardent interest in pursuit of something; fervor” (Webster)

Scriptural (5 Qualities): Courage (1 Pet. 3:12-14) Knowledge/Wisdom (Rom. 10:2) Energy (Jn. 4:34) Diligence (Ezra 7:23) Loving service (Rom. 12:11) Christian zeal is the courage to exercise great wisdom, great energy, and great diligence in loving service to God. Zeal Defined

God’s Zeal Establishing the Kingdom of Christ (Isa. 9:7) Visible and Obvious (Isa. 59:17) God expects Christians to imitate His zeal.

God’s Desire: Zealous People Seen in the Mission of Jesus (Tit. 2:14) He Purchased You He Purified You He Took Possession of You To Produce Zeal in You

Seen in the Instructions of Jesus (Rev. 3:14-19) Jesus does not want a comfortable, lukewarm people... He wants a people that are on fire to do good works! God’s Desire: Zealous People

Seen in the Actions of Jesus (Jn. 2:13-22) His zeal most evident in His pursuit of the Father’s will (Jn. 6:35-40; Mt. 26:42) We are instructed to walk with the same zeal Jesus had (1 Jn. 2:6) God’s Desire: Zealous People

Can We Be What God Wants/Demands? Zealous Christianity is not just a desire of God... He demands it. God has never demanded something of His people without equipping them for it.
