5. Rights(freedoms) – benefits and protections guaranteed by law (right to worship, bear arms, etc.) 6. 10. Cliff – steep, almost vertical edge of a mountain or plain 11. Continent – one of the seven major land masses of the Earth 12. Delta – triangular area of land formed by deposits at the mouth (end) of a river 13. Glacier – large ice mass that moves slowly down a mountain or over land

14. Gulf - large area of a sea or ocean partially enclosed by land, especially a long landlocked portion of sea opening through a strait (larger than a bay) 15. Harbor – sheltered body of water where ships can safely dock 16. Hill - landform that rises above the surrounding area

17. Island – small land mass surrounded by water 18. Isthmus – narrow strip of land connecting two larger bodies of land 19. Mesa – wide, flat-topped mountain with steep sides, usually found in dry areas

20. Mountain - large natural elevation of the Earth's surface rising abruptly from the surrounding level; a large steep hill 21. Ocean - large body of salt water that covers almost three fourths of the Earth's surface Pacific Atlantic Indian Southern Arctic

22. Peninsula – piece of land surrounded by water on three sides 23. Plain – large area of flat or nearly flat land 24. Plateau – large area of flat land higher than the surrounding land

25. River – large, natural stream of flowing water that goes into a larger body of water (ocean or sea) 26. Sea – large inland body of water 27. Strait – narrow channel of water connecting two larger bodies of water

28. Valley – low land between hills or mountains 29. Volcano – opening in the Earth, through which gas and lava escape from inside the Earth
