 The general setting of SLAM! is Harlem, which is located in the borough of Manhattan, in New York.  In this high bustling city of Harlem, the streets are full of hobos, drug dealers, honking cars, and vendors.  It is a very violent and dangerous area, where one must always be cautious wherever they go.

This is a magnet school where Slam was transferred from Carver. This school was part of many schools who were working toward integration. Latimer is well known for it’s visual arts, such as dancing, music, and painters. Students such as Karen and Margie are well versed in these arts. However, until Slam came along, it’s basketball team was also well known for being weak and puny.

Slam lives In a multicultural area, specifically in an apartment building. He often sees people on stoops, people playing basketball, the homeless, and drug dealers.

 Carver  Slam’s apartment  Mtisha’s house  Sam’s Fish Box  Ice’s house/rooftop  Garvey Park
