Presentation transcript:

We won’t be hunting animals in the library today, but if we were, we’d search them out in their own habitats. If we’re hunting down books…we need to look in their specific locations. Let’s see what you remember.

What kinds of materials might you want to “hunt down” in the library? Picture books (E Everybody) Early Readers (ER) Recorded Books ( CDs or Cassettes) Fiction (FIC) NonFiction ( ) Science, Math, Poetry, Crafts, Sports and more Biographies (B) Collective Biographies (CB) Series Magazines Reference books like encyclopedias (REF) New Arrivals

Ground Rules We’ve reviewed the “habitats” or locations for our books and materials…now let’s go over the ground rules for our hunt. Teams must follow all ground rules and use appropriate library manners or they will lose minutes. Teams who do not follow the ground rules will be penalized with a two-minute time-out.

1.The whole team must work together and cannot separate at any time during the game. 2.Everyone on the team must agree to the answers. 3.If another team is in the desired area, the new team must wait until the occupying team leaves. 4.Teams do not have to fill out the questions in order. 5.Teams must keep the shelves in order. Ground Rules

6.Each team should determine the following roles within their team. – Team Leader – Person who motivates the team’s members and makes sure the ground rules are followed. – Timer – Keeps track of the playing time and monitors the time-out if the group is penalized. – Advisor – makes sure all materials are put back in the correct order. – Scribe – Writes book titles and information on a piece of paper. HINT: Use the OPAC and write down the call number.
