This is the Easy to Read Disability Equality Scheme written by Our Lady’s Bishop Eton Catholic Primary School What is a Disability Equality Scheme? A Disability Equality Scheme says what our school will do to make sure disabled people have the same opportunities as everyone else in our school. Why are we producing a Disability Equality Scheme? The Law says we must do this. This law is called the Disability Discrimination Act What are the main aims of our Scheme? To involved disabled people in our school community in the development of all aspects of our school. To help our school think about what is important to disabled people. To help our school to employ more disabled people. Our Lady’s Bishop Eton Catholiv Primary School

These are some of the things our school will do. Make sure that our services meet disabled people ’ s needs Make sure our information is easy to use Make sure our meetings are easy for disabled people to attend Make sure we involve disabled people in telling us what they think of our provision and jobs. Make sure our staff are trained so they know what is important to disabled people. Make sure we support the disabled people we employ.

The Action Plan Some of the things we will be doing: Finding out what are the most important changes we need to make to our provision in order to provide access to disabled people Making it easier for disabled people to use our buildings and services Making sure disabled people who work at our school, or use our services, are supported. Improving how we communicate with disabled people e.g. British Sign Language Checking what we do Collecting information about education and school life Celebrating international day of disabled people in December each year Employment Improving how we support disabled people in work. Supporting our disabled staff. Creating a place where people feel O.K.in saying they have a disability Providing training about disability to staff
