Setting out wall plates Mark them in pairs (top & bottom plates) You need to identify from the plan –Corner stud clusters (internal & external) –Openings for jamb studs (windows or doors) –All dimensions required As an example we’ll look at a simple wall with a single small window opening in it. More complex arrangements is simply applying the same principles with more members. 1 st lets look at the frame.

Measure for corner, plate thickness Repeat on other side Measuring in to over, mark common stud centres Mark jamb or window studs These will become jack studs
