HOMEWORK Every week. The first homework: August 27. Homework will be assigned and graded through WebAssign. All students are required to register with WebAssign*. Homework problems must be worked out on paper and then answers entered through WebAssign. The work done must be kept in a notebook and brought to Recitations where it may be requested by the instructor. Each homework assignment will have its own due date posted on WebAssign. In general, a week or so will be given for each assignment, with perhaps only short assignments given 5 days. No late homework is accepted and no extensions will be granted. Missing homework counts as zero points.

QUIZZES There will be short quizzes given in the recitations based on the topics and examples discussed in class, the reading assignments and the homework problems. NO MAKE UP QUIZZES WILL BE GIVEN. A student that is absent in recitation gets zero points in the Quiz.

Writing assignments At the end of the lectures students may be asked to write a short paragraph related to the material discussed in class.

Exams There will be three Midterm exams (the best two scores will count) and a Final exam. Each midterm exam will consist of 3 or 4 problems (homework style). The Final exam will consist of a set of questions. Tentative dates (to be confirmed): Sep :10-11AM (Midterm 1) Oct :10-11AM (Midterm 2) Nov :10-11AM (Midterm 3) Dec. 6 (Final). Make-up for exams will NOT be given.
