CALCULATING YOUR FINAL GRADE Your first midterm: max. 50 points Your first midterm: max. 50 points Your second midterm: max. 100 points Your second midterm: max. 100 points Your final exam: max. 50 points Your final exam: max. 50 points These points will be added up, and divided by 2. Your excessive absence penalty points, if any, will be subtracted, and your max. 4 extra credit points will be added. That number will be your preliminary final grade. In addition, your class participation may determine your ultimate final grade.

FINAL GRADES = A = B = C = D = F

Calculating your final grade, cont’d Your preliminary final grade may be reevaluated in terms of your class participation, if your grade is borderline ( , or ). If you have been active in class, it may be upgraded. ( grades will automatically be rounded up.) Details will be explained in class.
