Connecting with Students… One School One Read PBIS Rewards Jump Rope for Heart Who-ville Field Day

Our One School One Read ……  Infuses character education with literacy  Close reads with text provide opportunities for student reflection and personal connections  Weekly whole school recognitions unite staff and students to build a stronger, positive sense of community at Sweeney

Our Fall Festival Students enjoy engaging a variety of team building activities that promote respect, responsibility and safety.

Jump Rope for Heart Over the past 14 years the total is $30, This year, students raised $ for The American Heart Association with help from ECSU students!

Who-ville… Our annual, theme-based physical education activity that allow students to practice their gross motor skills in a cooperating, engaging and fun environment.

Our Spring Fling… This PBIS reward turned our gym into a “beach” after a long winter where students demonstrated respect, responsibility and safety.

Field Day This annual end of the year tradition promotes cooperation and sportsmanship among al students across grades.

Connecting with Staff… New Arrivals Program ELL Co-teaching Mini-courses

Our New Arrivals/ELL Programs  Utilizing the Six Areas of Co-teaching  Collaboration & teaching with ELL teams  Differentiated and individualized planning and instruction  ESL/ELL teachers embedded in mainstream classrooms  Ongoing communication with families in native language

Mini-courses These mini-courses provide differentiated enrichment activities with an academic focus. They allow students to apply their classroom learning to real life situations.

Cross Country Races Every fall Sweeney students participate in the Elementary cross country races hosted by each elementary school in Windham.

Sweeney’s Annual Feast For 30+ years, this tradition has been a favorite of staff and students at Sweeney.

The Taste of Sweeney An annual event that unites the Sweeney community by sharing food and fellowship from our diverse cultures.
