Presentation transcript:

“HOUSTON, WE HAVE A PROBLEM” Planned Parenthood Builds the World’s 2nd Largest ABORTION Facility in Houston, TX.

A Snapshot of Planned Parenthood’s Activities in Houston Abortion on demand was legalized Jan 22, Abortions began March 20 of that year. 700 abortions had been performed by September. Sept 2000 – Sept 2006 Planned Parenthood of Houston and Southeast Texas aborted at least 40,351 babies.

Aurora, IL √ Denver, CO √ Sarasota, FL √ Houston, TX Worcester, MA Portland, OR Seattle, WA A New Trend In recent years, Planned Parenthood has aggressively shifted away from the small neighborhood-sized clinic approach in favor of consolidating into massive regional facilities. Currently there are seven locations that have become their focus.

Restraining Late-Term Abortion in Texas § ABORTION OF FETUS AGE 16 WEEKS OR MORE. An abortion of a fetus age 16 weeks or more may be performed only at an ambulatory surgical center or hospital licensed to perform the abortion. Added by Acts 2003, 78th Leg., ch. 999, § 1, eff. Sept. 1, The 3rd floor of the new facility is being built as an ambulatory surgical center.

Dangerous Demographics Planned Parenthood has conveniently located their new facility right in the center of four minority neighborhoods. Combined Average Median Per-Capita Income is $11,637. It is also adjacent to the University of Houston and Texas Southern University.

Direct Action On July 21, 2009, post-abortive women testified before (then) Mayor Bill White and the Houston City Council asking for the enforcement of the “Woman’s Right to Know Act” passed in 2003 which deals with providing women with literature and information about available alternatives to abortion. Pro-life leaders are currently meeting with individual City Council members to rally support for key pieces of regulation that work more towards protecting the health of women.

Strategy SHORT TERM GOALS: 1) Rapid mobilization of churches and minorities for large public event 2) JAN 17 Massive United Prayer Gathering 3) JAN 18 Justice March to Planned Parenthood facility National Press Conference featuring Minority Leaders 4) Educate minority community on abortion in Houston and Incite immediate activism 5) Generate national awareness and press about Planned Parenthood’s “Super Center” business model and racial targeting

Strategy LONG TERM GOALS: 1) Capture momentum with clear exit strategies including: Silent Siege, Operation Outcry, Adoption Services & Networks, etc. 2) Continue momentum with full year of “Rolling Rallies.” 3)Write “The Story” and provoke ongoing national media attention that exposes Planned Parenthood to the scrutiny of public opinion. 4)Develop Church-based support for ongoing prayer gatherings targeting the Grand Opening of the facility (prevention).
