Paper Abortion in the United States Should the United States federal government prohibit abortion? The United States federal government should not prohibit abortion because it is constitutional, it aids the parent(s), it shields the child from the detrimental effects of foster care/negative home environment, and it is more healthy for the mother than illegal abortion.

Paper (pg. 2) Facts: –In Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court decided that the Texas anti-abortion laws are in violation of the Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment. –Young parents are more likely to become alcoholics, commit suicide, and live below the poverty line than those who become parents in adulthood. –Twenty percent of young women who grow up in foster care are mothers by the time they are eighteen. –Every year, 66,500 women worldwide die due to unsafe abortions.

Paper (pg. 3) I learned: –The methods in which abortion is conducted. –Its prevalence in this country. –Just how strongly people feel about this issue.

Product I taught a class for my product. I created a lesson plan and activities for my class, which I taught on April 8 here at CEC to Mr. Stephens' seminar.

Product (pg. 2) My product impacted the students I taught by: –Informing them about the types of abortion This may show them the reality of what abortion is so they can think more maturely about the topic. –The varying views of abortion (ex. Pro-Life vs. Pro- Choice) This may help the students figure out where they fit in as far as their opinion goes.

Product (pg. 3) My mentor was Mrs. Casebolt (CEC history teacher) –Helped me make my lesson discussion-oriented. –Helped me to make my presentation eye-catching as well as informative. By completing the product, I learned: –To act sensitively toward other people who are easily affected by topics such as this one. –To listen actively to other people and their opinions. –The difficulty of being a teacher.

Connection Between the Paper and the Product The topic of my paper was abortion. This was the topic for the lesson I taught. The research I used to gather the information from my paper, I also used for the instructional period of my lesson. Both deal with people and their opinions on the subject of abortion. Both analyze the reasoning behind people's ideas and opinions.

Successes and Challenges of GP Successes: –I have finished it. –I got every due date completed on time. –I did not procrastinate. –I did not have to rush to get it done at the last minute. Challenges: –Meeting the weekly due dates. –Sticking with it even when I had other work to do. –I did not find the topic interesting.

Final Process Reflection This project process: –Will help me to organize large projects I may have in the future. –Has shown me that setting small goals for myself is very beneficial when completing a large project. I will take away: –The time management skills I have learned. –The ability to think maturely about ethical issues. –Respect for others and their opinions.
