An immovable foundation in 1882, Father Michael McGivney invited a small group of parishioners to the basement of St. Mary’s Church in New Haven, Conn. His goal was simple -

To establish an Order that would unite men in faith as well as help provide for Catholic families in time of need.

These founding members strove to overcome the hardships of the time: Poverty Unemployment Religious and Ethnic persecution

Father McGivney’s perseverance and foresight has resulted in the largest Catholic fraternal and humanitarian organization ever created. An organization that has endured for over a century because of the inspirational courage of so many.

An organization like no other: Chartered since million members 13,000 Councils An International Fraternal Organization in 13 Countries We are guided by our belief in God and the Catholic Church and also in ourselves and each other.

Did You Know that the Knights of Columbus  Donated to the $1 million Knights of Columbus Heroes Fund to provide financial aid to families of the emergency personnel killed or disabled during the 9/11 attacks.  Erected the Knight’s Tower and carillon of bells at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, and raised a $500,000 memorial fund to preserve the Shrine in perpetuity. Donated the Incarnation Dome ceiling mosaic.  Support a multimillion dollar scholarship program for members and their children, with all seminarians eligible. By creating six different college scholarship programs for members and their families; two different graduate fellowship programs; and scholarship programs for seminarians.  Support the spiritual welfare of armed services personnel and their families around the globe through a $900,000 fund for the Archdiocese for Military Service.  Have committed $2.5 million dollars to the Katrina Relief Fund and raised over $943,000 in additional monies.  Annually donates over $1 million to Pope to support charities of his choice.
