Priorities – our people To have happy, fulfilled staff and volunteers - we will: Measure volunteer and staff satisfaction, identify and address improvements Develop the leadership role of the management team Internally – create a learning culture and environment Externally – take a more structured and strategic approach to partnership working Develop an HR strategy Develop a volunteering strategy, based on the needs and aspirations of our volunteers

Priorities – our customers To improve our service user focus: –Develop an inclusive approach to service delivery and planning –Fully involve service users in improving service delivery and developing new services –Establish and monitor how satisfied service users are with our services

Priorities – Developing new and existing services Current Services Midlothian – Orchard Centre Services: extend into new geographical areas South Edinburgh Healthy Living Initiative: continue to work locally, focusing on mental health and health inequalities – project due to end 6/09 Beyond Trauma, working with survivors of childhood sexual abuse (CSA) – extend into new geographical areas Support, Accommodation and Respite Service: continue to work locally Men in Mind, working with men in BME communities who have mental health difficulties: extend into new geographical areas Re:Discover, addressing social isolation and supporting people to develop new social networks: extend into new geographical areas Information Service, including the Edinburgh Information Resource Centre, Edspace: continue to work and develop locally as well as extending the concept into new geographical areas Training Service, delivering external and internal training, including equalities, mental health first aid, CSA issues: continue to develop OCD group: we will gather the information we need to inform what happens next

New areas of service delivery Working with older people Development of complementary / alternative therapies Development of Arts activities Development of talking therapies in our current practice, for example, counseling, CBT Peer support and recovery – we will look for opportunities to promote and develop this way of working

Influencing policy and practice Raise awareness of who we are and what we do amongst key audiences Use evidence-based practice Demonstrate a quality approach Support our service users to present key issues Be aware of relevant issues and strategies – continue to develop better external awareness Improve our networking and partnerships with the statutory and voluntary sectors Contribute to key groups where they will benefit from our expertise Use a recovery approach

Ensuring our finances and systems are fit for the future Grow our income to at least £3m by March 2011 Increase our free reserves and develop a reserves policy Develop a policy on service subsidy Develop an investment fund Develop a sustainable income stream Use a transparent costing mechanism Identify and map our key processes Review our IT and be clear about our strategic requirements/action required Investigate a common database Review and update our website

Successes! Developing our befriending services – no tenders! Communities Connecting - pilot with older people – a successful tender In Jan 2010 – taking on an-ex private care home – a partnership Edspace, Midspace and Eastspace – unique knowledge and experience Establishing a counselling service in Craigmillar – good to work for? Trauma Counselling Line Scotland – national counselling line, Scottish Govt funded Training – entrepreneurial - UAE Marketing agency – new branding TSEF funding – bespoke database; researching new ideas; communications (but not SIF!)

Our new baby (but it’s really 3 years old!) ‘Let’s Talk’ – existing service into a new market Targeting employers / employees Rigorous research (Forth Sector) Just Enterprise support with EGF application (.. with Forth Sector again!!) EGF success!! Christening soon Staff, premises, systems and processes in place Branding, materials, PR, website underway What’s next for us? …..
