Parents are welcome to come and play!!!

LETS GET ACQUAINTED! Welcome to worship today. You are invited to fill out the attendance pad, located in the pew, and hand it toward the aisle. Also, note the bright green card in the pew rack where the song books are kept. It is a guide to help you prepare for worship and experience the life transforming presence of God in your life.

INTRODUCTION On this day the Lord has acted! On the first day of the week God began creation, transforming darkness into light. On this, the "eighth day" of the week, Jesus Christ was raised from the dead. We celebrate this new creation in the waters of baptism and in the feast of victory. With great joy we celebrate this day of days, even as we begin the great fifty days of Easter. Filled with hope, we go forth to share the news that Christ is risen!

Holy Communion is open to all who are baptized, confess Jesus as Lord, and believe that Jesus is present in the Bread and Wine. If you desire gluten-free wafers, let the pastor know at the time of distribution. Glasses of white grape juice are available in each tray for those who do not wish to receive wine.

“Above All” Above all powers, above all kings Above all nature and all created things,

Above all wisdom and all the ways of man; You were here before the world began

Above all kingdoms, above all thrones, Above all wonders the world has ever known, world has ever known,

Above all wealth and treasures of the earth There’s no way to measure what You’re worth;

Crucified and laid behind a stone, You lived to die rejected and Alone.

Like a rose trampled on the ground, You took the fall and thought of me above all.

Above all powers, above all kings Above all nature and all created things,

Above all wisdom and all the ways of man; You were here before the world began

Above all kingdoms, above all thrones, Above all wonders the world has ever known, world has ever known,

Above all wealth and treasures of the earth There’s no way to measure what You’re worth;

Crucified and laid behind a stone, You lived to die rejected and Alone.

Like a rose trampled on the ground, You took the fall and thought of me above all.

You were crucified and laid behind a stone, You lived to die rejected and Alone.

READINGS FOR EASTER SUNDAY

Acts 10:34–43

Psalm 118:1-2, (congregation reads the bold print) L: 1 Give thanks to the LORD, for the LORD is good; God's mercy endures forever. C: 2 Let Israel now declare, "God's mercy endures forever.“ L: 14 The LORD is my strength and my song, and has become my salvation. P: 16 The right hand of the LORD is exalted! The right hand of the LORD acts valiantly!“ C: 17 I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the LORD. P: 18 The LORD indeed punished me sorely, but did not hand me over to death. C: 19 Open for me the gates of righteousness; I will enter them and give thanks to the LORD.

P: 20 "This is the gate of the LORD; here the righteous may enter.“ C: 21 I give thanks to you, for you have answered me and you have become my salvation. NICENE CREED We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father; through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven,

was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the virgin Mary and became truly human. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son,* who with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

PRAYERS OF THE CHURCH P: Lord, in your mercy, C: hear our prayer. SHARING THE PEACE P:The peace of Christ be with you always. C:And also with you.

OFFERING “Was It a Morning Like This” Gina DeBoer

OFFERTORY PRAYER P: Blessed are you, O God, ruler of heaven and earth. Day by day you shower us with blessings. C: As you have raised us to new life in Christ, give us glad and generous hearts, ready to praise you and to respond to those in need, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen.

CONFESSION & FORGIVENESS All may make the sign of the cross, the sign marked at baptism, as the presiding minister begins. P:Blessed be the holy Trinity, + one God, the life beyond all death, the joy beyond all sorrow, our everlasting home. C:Amen. P:Rejoicing in Christ's victory over sin and death, let us come before God who calls us to repentance. Silence is kept for reflection. You are invited to kneel, sit, or stand as you wish.

P:God of life, C:by the resurrection of your Son you make everything new. Newness scares us, and we confess to shutting our doors in fear. We have not listened to voices that challenge us. We have resisted the Holy Spirit moving us in new directions. Our hearts are slow to believe your promises. Forgive us, O God, and renew us to embrace without fear the new life you have given us in Jesus Christ. Amen.

P:People of God: Christ is alive, and death has lost its power. Through the waters of baptism you have been born anew by the living word of God. Know that your sins are forgiven in + Jesus' name and that the Spirit of the risen Christ is alive in you both now and forever. C:Amen.

WORDS OF INSTITUTION

THE LORD’S PRAYER Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever, and ever. Amen.

(In addition to receiving the Body and Blood of Christ, you can also be in touch with God through meditating on a hymn or psalm and sharing silent prayers. These resources can all be found in the ELW Book.) INVITATION TO COMMUNION P: The disciples knew the Lord Jesus in the breaking of the bread. Come to this table where you are known and loved.
