News of the Week Jacqueline Dell

IPV Intimate Partner Violence; describes physical, sexual, or psychological harm by a current or former partner or spouse.

Photographer as Witness: A Portrait of Domestic Violence portrait-of-domestic-violence/#1 portrait-of-domestic-violence/#1

Objectivity. Can photos of domestic violence be objective? Can the photographer be completely detached and able to eliminate all bias in this kind of story?

Ethical Dilemmas/Witnessing Is it better to try and intervene and help, or is it better to just report on what is happening without stepping in? What kinds of exchanges need to happen in order to document someone's life for 2 months or more?

Media Coverage Are these images inappropriate? Is it unethical to publicize this kind of abuse? How do images of IPV differ from articles about it? Are images of it helpful to women who have experienced this?
