Preparation done for this Trial Assessment A week in advance - Informed the students about the trial assessment. - Briefed students on the basic features and guiding questions (Level 1 – 5 stated in Attachment 3 in the SBA document Draft 15) - The students started to read (if necessary) and wrote a book review themselves

Preparation done for this Trial Assessment 4 Days ahead - The teacher read and corrected the major mistakes in the reviews. - The teacher listened to the students’ reading of the book review. - Distributed note cards to the students and encouraged them to write only key words on them and prepare for a natural presentation.

The students were quite ready for this kind of assessment as they had been doing book reports for ERS for 3 years and they had learnt the skills of oral presentation when they were in Form The students required a certain amount of individual attention from teachers. 3. Students participated actively in the process of assessment for learning.
