Preparation done for this Trial Assessment A week in advance - Informed the students about the trial assessment. - Briefed students on the basic features and guiding questions (Level 1 – 5 stated in Attachment 3 in the SBA document Draft 15) - The students started to read (if necessary) and wrote a book review themselves

Preparation done for this Trial Assessment 4 Days ahead - The teacher read and corrected the major mistakes in the reviews. - The teacher listened to the students’ reading of the book review. - Distributed note cards to the students and encouraged them to write only key words on them and prepare for a natural presentation.

Experience Sharing 1. The process was not as difficult as we had thought. The students were quite ready for this kind of assessment as they had been doing book reports for ERS for 3 years and they had learnt the skills of oral presentation when they were in Form The students required a certain amount of individual attention from teachers. 3. Students participated actively in the process of assessment for learning.
