Auto insurance What is ?

Auto insurance provides a measure of financial protection in the event of a car accident.

If you cause a car accident you could be liable for thousands of dollars in car repairs, legal fees and medical bills.

Auto insurance coverage can pay for some or all of your accident related expenses depending on how much coverage you have purchased.

Most states require some form of auto insurance or financial responsibility if you are to drive legally. The minimum auto insurance required by your state usually does not cover your expenses resulting from an accident you cause.

Collision auto insurance covers your medical bills and damage to your vehicle resulting from an accident you cause.

If you did not cause the auto accident you may not need to use your auto insurance unless the driver is uninsured or underinsured.

Auto insurance also covers anyone you let drive your car as long as they have a valid drivers license.

Auto insurance rates are not just determined using your driving record. A variety of factors goes into deciding how much you pay for auto insurance and these factors are different at each insurance company.

Comparing auto insurance rates for at least three companies is a good start to saving money.
