Presentation transcript:

 Authentic pedagogy aims to nurture independent, critical thinking students. It intends to help students appreciate, live with, and experience the joy of working with cognitively complex problems…it helps students from all social backgrounds, rather than magnifying inequalities in achievement between groups that traditionally have been more and less advantaged” (Newmann et. al., 1996).  Authentic pedagogy works for students of all ages. For example, younger students can engage in service learning and learn the curriculum outside the school walls. The use of authentic tasks with elementary and middle school students is very possible, as long as the task is in student friendly language.

 “Since our children are the builders of tomorrow, they must be in sync with the pace with which our society is transforming. When we focus on the history of technology in education, we find that children who have basic computer literacy and are aware of the fundamentals of technology, perform better in their college and post-grad years. It is a misconception that technology should only be studied by students who are studying technology related subjects. The fact is that use of technology in education has spread in every sphere of subjects, be it arts, commerce or science.” (buzzle.com)
