Classified Ads

writing an ad People tend to write classified ads for two general reasons: –to sell something - a good or service –to announce something - meeting, birth, wedding, funeral Read the suggestions in the PDF file for writing classified ads, taken from online newspapers. Look at some examples on the linked web site Think about the characters and situations you encountered while reading the texts in this unit on choices. What might the various characters have to sell or announce?

the texts Write five classified ads for a newspaper using characters and situations from this unit. Each ad must originate from a different piece of text: "Paper Matches " "Little Red Riding Hood" OR the cartoon you analyzed "It Was a Year Ago" "Paid-up Member" "The Monsters are Due on Maple Street"

remember Each of your ads should come from a different section of the classified ads. EACH of your ads will be followed by two to three sentences, listing title, author, genre, and a brief explanation as to why this ad would be placed.
