What are Maps 1. Maps are drawing of part of the earth as seen from above. 2. Maps are tools that people use to identify locations. 3. There are many different kinds of maps. 4.. Maps contain symbols that represent real places.

Maps help us learn about our world

Imaginary Lines. What are the prime meridian and equator, and what are their purposes? Why do we need these imaginary lines?

Imaginary Lines Maps use imaginary lines called borders, latitude and longitude to help locate points and places on a map. The equator is an imaginary line in the middle of the globe.
