CUBISM By Olivia Vickery

CUBISM HISTORY… WHAT IS IT? Cubism is a form of abstract art. It is created with geometric shapes, this form a lovely at piece. Cubism was the first of the Abstract Art of the 20th century. It was seen as the future of art. It quickly took hold amongst the arty elite in Europe. The public however gave a different response. An art critic at the time said one canvas looked like a sheet of broken glass. It was first created by Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque.

PABLO PICASSO Pablo Picasso first created the form of cubism art which as we call it today, with the help from his other artistic friend Georges Braque. This art was then classed as abstract art as is came out the the public. The public first of all took a different approach to the art compared to the art critics, as they said it’s ‘the future of art’.

KANDINSKY Kandinsky was also a well known cubist artist. Wassily Kandinsky was born in Russia in At school he learned to play the piano and cello and later he thought that the colours were like the notes on a keyboard and could hear music as he looked at the colours. This may surprise you but he only started to study art when he was 30.
