1 Our Mission and the EEOICPA The Department of Labor’s Division of Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation has the responsibility for administering the Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program Act (EEOICPA). This law was passed to provide compensation and medical benefits to individuals who became ill as a result of their employment in the atomic weapons industry. These include Department of Energy (DOE) employees, DOE contractors and subcontractors, Atomic Weapons Employer employees, employees of beryllium vendors, and certain beneficiaries of Section 5 of the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act (RECA).
