Myths

Myth 1. Take Chiddingfold out of Green Belt

Myth 1. Chiddingfold is coming out of the Green Belt Is it going to Happen? No! What might happen? A detailed review with Chiddingfold and Waverley involvement to see if all of the already populated part of the village or parts around the edge might be removed.

Myth 2 the Settlement Boundary of Chiddingfold will increase by 50%

Myth 2. the Settlement Boundary of Chiddingfold will increase by 50% Is it going to Happen? Most Unlikely! What might happen? The settlement Boundary is only likely to be expanded to cover specific sites on the edges of the settlement where development is approved in principle

Myth 3 Chiddingfold will have 450 new houses in five years

Myth 3. Chiddingfold will have 450 new houses in five years Is it going to Happen? No! What might happen? Inside the existing settlement 1 or 2 new homes might be built every year Within 5 years some green field sites outside the settlement might have been agreed that might take 4 or 5 homes a year

Facts

Fact 1. Demand for housing in Chiddingfold is strong -- Our Local Housing demand survey of residents shows strong demand for both affordable and market housing - External demand from people wishing to move into Chiddingfold is also strong at all price levels.

Facts 2 Specific Needs -There are 25 families living in Chiddingfold needing re-housing in an affordable home - Demand for market housing includes over 130 residents in Chiddingfold who would like to move to a different home in the village within 5 to 10 years

Fact 3 Why residents want to change Current home too large Garden too large to cope with Retiring and need to downsize Current home is too small Want to start a home of their own

Fact 4 What residents want Detached house Semi-detached house Bungalow Flat Retirement flat Small Low cost market home

Fact 5 Missing Availability Very few Houses for Downsizers, Bungalows, Flats, Retirement Flats, Sheltered Accommodation or Starter Homes Very Few available sites within present Planning Policy Framework
