Romanian Portal for Nuclear Education and Training Camelia Avădanei 1, Olivia Comşa 2, N. Ghiordănescu 3, M. V. Paraschiva 2, C. Mircioiu “Horia Hulubei” National Institute for Physics and Nuclear Engineering (NIPNE) – Training Center 2 - Romanian Nuclear Activities Authority – Subsidiary of Technology and Engineering for Nuclear Projects (RAAN - SITON) 3 - University of Bucharest – Faculty of Physics 4 - Bucharest University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Faculty of Medicine Distance e-learning and e- training system on nuclear radiation designed for specific target groups: Personnel working in nuclear facilities ( special accreditation to work in radiation field) Personnel working in institutions with nuclear devices and / or radiation sources (general information) Public opinion (internet information)

Main Objective Dissemination of scientific and technical information regarding the use of nuclear radiation at European safety standards Specific Objectives Specific information for personnel involved in nuclear applications, and/or beneficiaries of nuclear applications Special training for personnel working in areas covered by Nuclear Safety Regulations issued by CNCAN. Public information regarding the last scientific dicoveries in nuclear and particle physics, such as: impact on other research areas and on technological develompent, use of radiation in safety conditions etc. Implementation of European requirements in Romanian Education and Training System

Specific products An open e-learning education system based on an integrated database containing the main education and training issues  An internet portal to administrate the training - on-line acces to training materials; - on-line access to the news, safety standards, regulations etc.; - On-line tests, final tests; - An open forum;  Specific target (users or beneficiaries of nuclear application) training modules: materials, tests, legislation, specific regulations etc.  Elaboration of specific programs regarding: - Information to be transmitted to the students; - Training and testing activities; - Practical activities in nuclear facilities, CNCAN accreditation, finalization of training; - Procedures for efficient and safely use of nuclear radiation; - Personnel effective dose evaluation and computer storage of results.  Internet database : - At the request of institution with E&T profile, but which also deploy research & development activities, there will be created specific databases, a.e. the network of specialists and technical support for territorial monitoring and control; - Record keeping for training activities for personnel working in nuclear facilities.

Priorities I. The Internet site is presented in the following slides. II. For accreditation of personnel involved in nuclear radiation field there are proposed three types of specific training activities 1. For industrial application of nuclear radiation; 2. For medical application: diagnosis, treatment, research; 3. For territorial epidemiological survey network which monitor the radioactive contamination of the environment. III. Support materials for all three types of training will be included in the Internet database; in this respect, database administration software will be modified to support: 1. Electronically transmission of tests; 2. Results accounting; 3. Instruction tables and certificates issue; 4. Students registration; 5. Databases regarding the network of specialists and production, monitoring and alerting capacities

Nuclear Education and Training Portal Click on the link of one Education and Training Institution will open its specific portal (see on next slides)

Specific Portal Structure

Specific Database Structure

Three categories of personnel –Personnel working with X rays sources, particle (electrons) accelerators, opened and sealed radioactive sources for control, defectoscopy, material irradiation etc. –Personnel working with X rays sources, particle (electrons) accelerators, opened and sealed radioactive sources for diagnosis and medical treatment –Personnel working in epidemiological survey network

Training proposal taking into account the number of students of a spectific target group, a number of training session will be held, according with the distance e-learning regulation: one training session will take for about 4 weeks candidates registration, with specification of the target group (type and level of training) – fax or electronic submission for the first three weeks: in the first day of each week specific training materials will be sent to the students, together with the weekly test and in the last day of the week they should submmit their test results. in the fourth week, there will be organized a final meeting with each target group
