You’ll read the Hayom Yom and discuss it too, The main thing – you’ll see what ACTION you can do, That connects to that day’s thought and to Moshiach as well, And you’ll fill out a form – what did you do? Rochel sat down to say Shema last night, She thought about her day, what was wrong and right. Had she acted today, In a nice way? Had she been a Dugma Chaya for all to see? Had she dressed tzniusly? Had she been sensitive to her friends? Had she been with them through the end?

Had she helped her mother today? Had she been nice to her siblings all the way? Had she been respectful to her teachers in school? Had she done things just to “be cool”? She realized today had been a pretty good day, And resolved that tomorrow should be better in every way.

Someone once said at a Farbrengen where the Rebbe Rashab was present “ The Alter Rebbe ’ s Chassidim are always counting.” The Rebbe Rashab commented : “ This holds true with regards to working on Ruchnius. One ’ s hours must be counted. In this way, the days will be counted. When a day passes, we must know what we have accomplished and what we have yet to accomplish. All in all, we must make sure that tomorrow will be far better than today.”

To realize the value of ONE YEAR, ask a student who failed a grade. To realize the value of ONE MONTH, ask the 7 th grade class about their newsletter. To realize the value of ONE WEEK, ask the 8 th graders who take charge of UPS. To realize the value of ONE HOUR, ask the GO leaders. To realize the value of ONE MINUTE, ask a person who just missed a train. To realize the value of ONE SECOND, ask someone who just avoided an accident. To realize the value of ONE MILLISECOND, ask the person who won a silver medal at the Olympics. TIME COUNTS IF YOU MAKE IT COUNT!

Imagine there is a bank account that credits your account each morning with $86,400. It carries over no balance from day to day. Every evening the bank deletes whatever part of the balance you failed to use during the day. What would you do? Draw out every cent, of course? Each of us has such a bank. It's name is TIME. Every morning, it credits you with 86,400 seconds. Every night it writes off as lost, whatever of this you have failed to invest to a good purpose. It carries over no balance. It allows no over draft. Each day it opens a new account for you. Each night it burns the remains of the day.
