The Green Fee AASHE Conference 2010

Green Fee What is it? A $5 per semester student fee to support campus sustainability Supported by Student Survey from SFE Passed by Student Senate, EAC, and Administration Partially paid for Sustainability Coordinator position Funds projects around campus – Filtered Water stations – FreeStore – Reusable Mugs – Traditional Skills Workshops

Sustainability Employment Sustainability Employment is used to pay students for their time spent promoting campus sustainability. Some examples of projects include: – Reducing junk mail – Setting up an environmental art show – Researching recycling signage – Recording outdoor illuminescence – Calculating air miles for faculty and staff – Researching composting options

Green Fee Mini-Grants Green Fee Mini-Grants can provide up to $500 for a project that will promote campus sustainability. Some examples of student projects: – Purchasing cloth bags – Constructing wood duck houses – Awards for an energy-saving competition – Habitat for Humanity, Women Build – Cell phone drive – Sattgast Aquarium project – Reusable bowls for the Festival of Nations
