Urban Mobility Breach Course Ranges 4 th IBCT OIC: 2LT Dursky RSO: SFC Stump

UMBC Ranges: 4 th IBCT Task: Conduct Ballistic Breaching utilizing Shotguns and Breaching rounds as a part of the UMBC. Condition: Given Urban Breaching Lanes at Range 52 VIC PJ , six Shotguns, three UMBC instructors and all necessary material. Standards: Train 30 students on standard Army Urban Ballistic Breaching Techniques. Ensure all Soldiers are familiar with urban ballistic breaching operations and all safety aspects.

UMBC Ranges: 4 th IBCT Purpose: Train Soldiers on the skills and techniques required to successfully breach targets utilizing a 12 gauge Shotgun and special-purpose breaching rounds

UMBC Ranges: 4 th IBCT Execution: Three UMBC MTT instructors observe, assist, and regulate the firing of buck-shot, slug, and breaching rounds. –Phase I: Commencing 10SEP08, all students receive classroom instruction and training regarding Shotgun usage and Ballistic Breaching. This training provides students technical and safety knowledge to enable successful and safe execution. –Phase II: Shotgun Range Execution: Range is executed 12SEP08 with training being conducted from hrs. Soldiers will fire three iterations: Shotgun Familiarization, Ballistic Breach Familiarization, and Ballistic Breach Fire.

Execution Timeline 12 SEP – 0620: Vehicle Prep 0620 – 0700: OIC/RSO, Range Detail, and Medic MVMT to Range 0700 – 0900: Range Preparation, Ammo Arrives Student/Instructor MVMT to Range 52 via Bus 0900 – 0930: Safety Brief and Range Orientation 1000 – 1200: Familiarization Fire 1200 – 1300: Chow (MRE) 1300 – 1600: Ballistic Breaching Fire 1600 – 1700: Range Cleanup and Recovery. Shakedown of All Personnel Spent Casings Picked up by 701 st BSB 1700 – 1730: MVMT of all Personnel/Equipment to STB Motorpool – UTC: Vehicle and Equipment Recovery

Execution (Additional Info) Firing Iterations- 3 Stages –Shotgun Familiarization: Soldiers become familiarized with Shotgun by firing at Silhouette targets –Ballistic Breach Familiarization: Soldiers become familiarized with Ballistic Breaching by firing, utilizing the proper techniques, at plywood targets –Ballistic Breach Fire: Soldiers train Ballistic Breaching by firing at locks and hinges on framed doors. Vehicle Staging Area- –All vehicles are staged for movement with four cases of MREs and ten full water cans. –Vehicles are staged day/weekend prior to each range day at BSTB HHC.

Training Gates Classroom Instruction –Students will be instructed on proper firing positions and clearing procedures. Students will demonstrate proficiency to course instructors prior to range execution. Familiarization Fire –Students will execute proper shotgun firing and clearing procedures engaging silhouette targets to become familiarized with firing live ammunition. Ballistic Breach Familiarization Fire –Students will execute proper ballistic breach procedures engaging plywood targets to become familiarized. Students will demonstrate proficiency to course instructors prior firing on doors, locks, or hinges. Ballistic Breach Fire –Utilizing all training and knowledge acquired from previous gates, students will execute proper ballistic breach procedures on framed doors outfitted with locks and hinges.

Coordinations and Requests Class I - M/A/M – Students eat breakfast and dinner chow at DFAC. Class IV - Range Control Maintenance team provides all CL IV materials needed for this training event. - POC is Mr. Black, Class V - Fox Company, 2-16 INF picks up and transports. - POC is Chief Wood, AHA Guards - A Co 4-1 BSTB provides two NCOs for AHA Guard. Uniform - ACH and IBA w/ Plates - DA approved ballistic eyewear - Earplugs - Knee and Elbow Pads - Camelback w/ water - Black Leather or Nomex gloves Transportation - Students/Instructors move in 40pax TMP bus. - OIC, RSO, four Soldier range detail and all equipment and supplies move in 12pax TMP van and TMP pickup truck. - A Co 4-1 BSTB provides bus driver. - HHC 4-1 BSTB provides FLA driver. COMMO - OIC signs for two MACOMs with spare batteries from range control to serve as primary and alternate commo. - S-6 from 4-1 BSTB provides four Motorola handheld radios for commo between OIC/RSO, instructors, ECP, and range detail while on the range. - Telephone located at range 52. Medical Service - HHC 4-1 BSTB provides two medics with evac strip map, certification cards, medic bags, and stretcher st BSB provides FLA to 4-1 BSTB.
