FUNCTIONAL SPECIFICATION AND IMPLEMENTATION PLAN FloridaHealthFinder.gov Assisted Living Facility (ALF) Comparison Tool

FUNCTIONAL SPECIFICATION Overview The comparison tool is a new addition to the Compare Care segment of the FloridaHealthFinder.gov website. It allows users to compare Assisted Living Facilities (ALFs) by Survey and complaint data as well as special services and programs. This project will implement this feature for ALFs only. However, the feature would be designed to accommodate additional facility types in future phases of development with a minimum of changes to code or architecture. HOME PAGE

SEARCH FEATURES When the user clicks the link on the home page they are taken to the existing ALF landing page. However, clicking the main link (large image) will take the user to the search page. The image caption will be changed to reflect this.

FUNCTIONAL SPECIFICATION SEARCH PAGE The Search Page (some use the term “map page”) allows the user to refine their search by geography to generate results in their vicinity, as well as to select only certain facilities by name or certain facility features. This page works similar to the existing Compare Care search page for hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers and nursing homes. Search Page

SEARCH RESULTS PAGE This page provides the Survey/Complaint data as well as the links to profiles for each facility and glossary information. Buttons will be provided to change search criteria or start a new search (not shown below). A new room type “Semi- private Rooms” will be added under the “Licensed Beds” section. Under the “Services/Characteristics” section, all of the advanced search fields itemized above for the Facility Search page will be output here as appropriate for the facility: For the “Bed Hold Policy” field: If Yes, “Facility will hold beds during a temporary absence”; if No, “Facility does not hold beds during a temporary absence” A new link will be added to the “AHCA Reports” section of facility profiles to take the user to the aforementioned search results page with data for the chosen facility.
