COMPUTER HARDWARE Computer hardware is the physical construction of the computer system, the areas we can touch. The hardware is the construction inside the tower which allows the computer to function properly. On the next screen are some examples of what typical pieces of computer hardware look like. Some will be familiar as we see them in everyday use, some you may not have seen before as they are stored inside the hard drive of a PC (personal computer).

COMPUTER HARDWARE EXAMPLES COMPUTER KEYBOARD RAM GRAPHICS TABLET (random access memory) GRAPHICS TABLET COMPUTER MOUSE

COMPUTER HARDWARE We can save our graphical data onto various media. For example; floppy disc, zip drive, CD or the hard drive. Floppy Disc 1.44 Mb Zip Drive 250 Mb Hard Drive 20+ Gb Compact Disc 800 Mb

COMPUTER HARDWARE Advantages of the hard drive over the floppy disc… * More storage space * Less chance of physical damage * Less chance of losing a hard drive! * Programs and applications can be run from a hard drive.
