Aims of our lesson: to understand the meaning of the word paradox and its using in different cases; to learn analyzing and summarizing the getting information; to try realizing the sense of life, the way of life and to find some ways of solving problems; to make your own creative product for helping people to be happier.

Paradox is a situation or statement that seems strange because it involves two ideas or qualities that are very different (Longman Active study dictionary) For example: It’s a paradox that so many poor people are living in such a rich country.

WE have  taller buildings, but shorter tempers  wider freeways, but narrower viewpoints  steep profits and shallow relationships WE are  tall men, but we have short character WE buy more, but enjoy it less…

WE  drink too much  spend too recklessly  laugh too little  drive too fast  get too angry too quickly  stay up to late  get up too tired  read too seldom  watch TV too much

We have  bigger houses and smaller families  fancier houses, but broken homes We live  in the days of two incomes, but more divorce

WE  have more experts, but more problems  more medicine, but less wellness WE  have learned how to make a living, but not a life  have added years to life, not life to years

We  build more computers to produce more copies than ever, but have less communication  talk too much, but less listen to  split the atom, but not our prejudice

We have cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul conquered outer space, but not inner space have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values
