Test and Measurement Introduction Basics of the IDEAL Tracers IDEAL Industries, Inc IDEAL Industries Test and Measurement Introduction Basics of the IDEAL Tracers

Basics of the IDEAL Tracers Introduction In 1916, J. Walter Becker started the Ideal Commutator Dresser Company of Chicago from his mother's kitchen. He manufactured commutator dresser stones with the belief that every product should be worth more than the price paid for it. Service, he said, was part of the product Are we selling yesterdays technology because that’s what we feel comfortable with, or are we looking for the cheeps “like” product for yesterday measurement technology. Do we understand where the customer who is walking thought the door is coming from and what his needs are. Basics of the IDEAL Tracers

Basics of the IDEAL Tracers Introduction Because of technical changes in the electrical market IDEAL recognized that it needed to expand is product offerings beyond just simple electrical testers. The objective of IDEAL’s Test and Measurement Group is to be one of the major leaders in the markets that they serve. Residential, Commercial, Industrial, Utilities. Are we selling yesterdays technology because that’s what we feel comfortable with, or are we looking for the cheeps “like” product for yesterday measurement technology. Do we understand where the customer who is walking thought the door is coming from and what his needs are. Basics of the IDEAL Tracers

Basics of the IDEAL Tracers 300 Series DMM’s How To Sell the Customer Ask if he/she: Measures voltage and resistance routinely. Concerned about safety in their test tools. Category Rating on the meter Needs a fast-responding meter. Works harmonic environments. (Needs True RMS) Basics of the IDEAL Tracers

Basics of the IDEAL Tracers IEC Category Ratings IEC 61010 defines as four Categories: CAT IV “Origin of installation”, CAT III Distribution Level, CAT II Local level, CAT I Signal Level, If a lighting strike was to hit your electrical service a certain amount of energy or impulse would travel and be dissipated by the electrical service. The closer to the source of the impulse the Higher available fault current. Basics of the IDEAL Tracers

Basics of the IDEAL Tracers Average vs. True RMS True RMS responding The Meter calculates the true effective (heating) value of the waveform. Average sensing meters will not correctly display the effective (heating) value on a “non-sinusoidal waveform. True RMS responding meters calculates the true “effective value” of the waveform regardless of the shape of the waveform This value is the work or true “heating value” of the waveform. Non-linear loads draw current in short pulses resulting in what is call a non-sinusoidal waveform. It is these short pulses of current draw at peak voltage that an Average responding RMS calibrated meter which can not be detected. Basics of the IDEAL Tracers

Branch Circuit and Analyzers Testers IDEAL SureTest Circuit Analyzer Family 61-058 GFCI/AFCI Circuit Tester New 61-059 Launch Winter 2007 61-164 SureTest Circuit Analyzer 61-165 SureTest Analyzer with AFCI Basics of the IDEAL Tracers

Basics of the IDEAL Tracers SureTest Arc Tester Benefits Only AFCI tester that fits conveniently in hand or pocket Advanced circuitry allows cooler testing for repeat testing Indicates wiring status from any angle Verifies safety of ground circuit Verifies AFCI will not trip with normal loads Independently tested to UL 943, 1436 standards. Features Compact Size Fast AFCI testing Super-bright LED’s Isolated Neutral test UL Listed Basics of the IDEAL Tracers

Does this test the AFCI component of an AFCI Breaker ETCON AF120 ARC-FAULT TRIPPER AND RECEPTACLE TESTER Performs two tests with one installation! Tests conventional or AFCI protected 120 VAC outlets for correct wiring. Tests AFCI protected outlets to insure against trip at 30 mA. (This is the GFI part of an AFCI breaker, It is not testing the AFCI circuitry of the AFIC breaker.) Basics of the IDEAL Tracers

Basics of the IDEAL Tracers SureTest Arc Tester How To Sell the Customer Ask if he/she installs/inspects AFCI branch circuits. True simulation of an Arc Fault Other Testers may only be testing the 30mA GFI portion of the breaker, not the AFCI. Shows wire map like Reverse Polarity Test GFCI function per UL specifications. The Neutral Test places a small load between High and Neutral to test for Shared or improper neutral wiring on the AFCI Breaker.. Optional and convenient carrying case (C-50). Optional alligator clip adapter (61-184) to test lighting circuits. Basics of the IDEAL Tracers

Basics of the IDEAL Tracers SureTest 160 Series Features Super-bright OLED display High Accuracies Checks for both electrical fire hazards Isolated Neutral Test UL Listed to Cat III-300V Benefits For easy viewing in dark or bright locations Most reliable method for branch inspection Verifies protection from high Voltage Drop & Arc Faults Verifies that AFCI’s will not trip under normal loads Independently tested to the UL standards 61010, 943, 1436 Basics of the IDEAL Tracers

Basics of the IDEAL Tracers SureTest 160 Series How To Sell the Customer Ask if he/she installs/inspects branch circuits for fire safety and performance. Unit measures RMS Voltage, Neutral to Ground voltage, Peak and Frequency, Show % Voltage Drop at 12, 15, and 20 amps. Measures impedance of the circuit as will as for High, Neutral and Ground conductors. GFCI test with both 7 mA and 30 mA for equipment GFIs AFCI Test. Per UL specification IDEAL is a leader in branch circuit testing and this is the only tool to confidently verify the performance and safety of a branch circuit. Basics of the IDEAL Tracers

Industrial Clamp Meters w/ TightSighttm Display How To Sell the Customer Ask if he/she has ever had difficulty clamping onto a single conductor in a congested panel. Ask if he/she has also had difficulty reading the display after being clamped onto a wire. The Bottom Display was developed for the end use that finds himself in “tight” places where a standard display is hard to see. Emphasize the inability in certain application where you can’t see the display. This is not just a clamp, but a full functional Multimeter Full ranging of Voltage Resistance and in some models Frequency and Capacitance. Basics of the IDEAL Tracers
