Outcomes – 4.9.3

 The Universe is everything that exists! With in the Universe we have:  Galaxy’s  Star’s  Black holes  Planets And our SOLAR SYSTEM!

Our solar system is made up of:  Planet’s (bodies orbiting a star  The Sun (our closest star)  And Celestial bodies (asteroids, comets etc.)

 Mercury  Venus  Earth  Mars  Jupiter  Saturn  Uranus  Neptune! Pluto is a DWARF PLANET

 Todays activity is to give you an idea of the scale of everything in comparison to the sun, describe movements of planets in relation to the sun (orbit and spin), Explain Earth’s night and day and why does it happen (hint, does the earth spin?) ? For this use website (note: adjust settings to make planets more profound and their names on (cog wheel on left hand side)

Watch the video and explain what causes seasons!

 The Earth is made up of layers, These layers are:  Crust (5-40km thick)  Mantel (2885km thick)  Outer core (2270km thick)  Inner core (1216km thick) Head on over to: To explore the earth’s structure! (Individual animation for each layer)
